Time Schedule: Three years
Project status: Ongoing (1st year)
MoES Administrative Order No.& Date: MoES/11-MRDF/1/60/08 dated 30.06.09
MoES sanctioned project cost : 27,33,328/-
Grants released by MoES: Rs. 14,14,472/-
Objectives:
- To understand the impact of sea level fluctuations along the Karnataka Coast, that is on the submergent coast in the northern sector and emergent coast in the south.
- To understand the role of sea level fluctuations on shoreline changes and to understand the shoreline changing scenario on various temporal scales (a decadal to a century scale) by using geologic-geomorphic approach based on multidated topographical, hydrographical and satellite data.
- To generate a detailed digital elevation model showing the near shore bathymetry and interpolated landforms between 0-10m contour and to quantify the range of potential inundation resulting from sea level rise in the next 100 years.
